Prasad and his wife Shani named the guest house “Boa Vista” as the owner is a descendant of Portuguese origin. They promise to give you a warm welcome and be at hand to help you with your enquiries.

The Boa Vista is also listed in the Lonely Planet Guide. However some of the rooms and bathrooms look dated, and need refurbishment. This is however compensated by the low price and the great view.

Room types include AC and non AC family rooms with two double beds and twins with two singles. For non AC, the remote for the AC is not made available.

Rooms have ceiling fans, some have mosquito nets.

All have private attached bathrooms with toilet, douche, wash basin and hot water shower.

Wifi is available but possibly not in all rooms. Strongest wifi reception is in the hotel lobby area.

Some rooms have a balcony. For those that do,  you get an exceptional view over Lake Thissa.

Also try their coffee. In my opinion, it is the best in Anuradhapura.

Breakfast is not included.

Being on the north part of Thissa Wewa, the Boa Vista is within 5 minutes tuktuk ride to the ruins of the Sacred City of Anuradhapura, and within 10 minutes of the Main Street of Anuradhapura town. It is 35 mins to Mihintale Rock to the east, and 40 mins to Wilpaththu National Park to the west.

This guest house has lost its former glory in that it requires refurbishment, but hopefully the warm hospitality makes up for some of that. Remember to try their coffee!!!

Kalum Homestay, Sigiriya

Kalum Homestay faces the famous Sigiriya Rock. As such it has an amazing view of Sigiriya Rock in front of the lake, Sigiriya Tank, from its outdoor covered lounge area. Therefore a privileged and unique location.

Similary the triple room comprises of three single beds, of which two are together and can also be separated. All beds are comfy and clean, with white bed linen.

The room comes with AC and a fan to help you keep the room cool. Mosquito nets are also provided.

Rukmali Hotel is about 2 kms from Habarana in the direction of Polonnaruwa.

Habarana is on the route direct from Trincomalee to Dambulla. The bus stops at the Habarana junction for travellers who want to go to Sigiriya. Whilst going to Sigiriya would involve catching two buses, taking a tuktuk is shorter and quicker as they use back roads not practical for bus transport.

The Rukmali Hotel is 17 kms from Sigiriya, 19 kms from Dambulla, 52 kms to Polonnaruwa and 83 kms to Trincomalee. Habarana is used as base to visit these other places as it is more or less in the centre of this cultural triangle. Minneriya National Park is also closeby.
