The New Sigiri Resort is a newly constructed guest house off Sigiriya Road, the principal road that runs through Sigiriya. It is in a jungle setting.

Room types include singles, doubles, twin, triples and quadruples (4 single beds). All rooms have AC and a ceiling fan to help you keep the room cool. There is free wifi so you can keep in touch with families and friends.

They also all have  private attached bathrooms with toilet, douche, wash basin and hot water shower. Some rooms have mini-fridges. If you don’t have a mini-fridge and would like one, please ask the manager.

Your host is Malinda, the manager. Malinda will answer all your questions and try to ensure that you have a pleasant stay at the New Sigiri Resort.

Rooms are offered on a bed & breakfast basis. Breakfast is therefore included in the price and is served in the ground floor restaurant area.

For your safety, there are security cameras on the premises.

The New Sigiri Resort & restaurant are set in a jungle location. You may see wild fowl and monkeys. If you do not see monkeys, you will certainly hear them.

 

Sigiri Lion Lodge, Sigiriya

The Sigiri Lion Lodge is down a small lane off Sigiriya Road, near the bridge. as such it is only 800 metres to Sigiriya Rock. Being by Sigiriya Road there are many restaurants, convenience shops and tourist shops.

There are AC and non AC double rooms, with one double bed, and triple rooms, with one double and one single bed.

Generally speaking the rooms are basic as they are in many guest houses in the Sigiriya area. All rooms have ceiling fans, mosquito nets and private bathrooms.

The private attached bathroom comes with toilet, douche, wash basin and hot water shower. There is free wifi so you can keep in touch with families and friends.

Your host is Ajith, who is dedicated to hospitality. He will help you all he can. He even has washing powder for you, should you wish to wash your clothes.

The room is offered on a bed & breakfast basis, so breakfast is included in the price and served in the restaurant area.

The Sigiriya Rock itself (known literally as Lion’s Rock) can be seen on all sides and with its 180 m height, this rock fortress is impressive. It will take you approx. 1 hour to ascend the rock, and 30 minutes to descend the 1,200 steps. The frescoes are world famous, and the intricate palace is a place of wonder. It became a World Heritage site recognised by UNESCO in 1982. Sigiriya is in the cultural triangle of Dambulla (19 kms) and Polonnaruwa (54 kms), and as such is an ideal stay over point.

Tourist activities include buffalo cart riding and the purchase of wooden artifacts and motifs.

The Sigiri Lion Lodge is in a jungle settle and therefore elephants, wild fowl and monkeys may come into the Lodge grounds. If you don’t see the monkeys, you will certainly hear them.

The Sigiri Lion Lodge is clearly sign posted from the road and when you enter the premises. The reception is on the left hand side in a pink building.

 

Green Grass Homestay, Sigiriya

The Green Grass Homestay is down a small lane next to the Croissant Hut in the centre of Sigiriya. It is lush with greenery and you can detect that gardening is one of their passions.

There is only one room available. It is a family bedroom comprising of two double beds for a maximum of four people.

As it is located just off Sigiriya Road, it is literally only 1 mins walk to restaurants and tourist shops. There is no AC but there are two stand-up fans to help you keep the room cool. There is a mosquito net too.

The private attached bathroom comes with toilet, douche, wash basin and hot water shower. There is free wifi so you can keep in touch with families and friends.

The hosts offer free bicycle rental hire for their guests but other services such as meals and car rental are chargeable at very reasonable prices.

Your host is Shayama. She is the mother of the family. Her son Bandara also lives there and his English is very good. Bandara will be able to help you if you have any communication problems. They are both very nice, and your Green Grass Homestay experience should be most rewarding.

Breakfast is available at the price of 350 rupees per person.

This is a small homestay, and you will be made to feel most welcome. Excellent location in the jungle but just off Sigiriya Road, it is literally only 1 mins walk to restaurants and tourist shops.

The Lakmini Lodge of Sigiriya has many buildings offering a variety of room types for different budgets. Located just only 800 metres from Sigiriya Rock with great vantage points from the roof terrace.

Your hosts at the Lakmini Lodge are the father and son team of Chandi and Nandana respectively. They can also organise excursions for you, including Kayaking (which can be seen in the video).

Breakfast is included in the price. There is a restaurant and other meals can be purchased there.

Nilmini Lodge, Sigiriya

Nilmini Lodge is located off Sigiriya Road, right in the centre of Town. It is next to all the main restaurants such as The Croissant Hut, and a few tourist shops.

Room types include family room with two double beds, twin room with two singles, and doubles with one double bed. The family room has AC, the twin room does not, and there are double rooms with and without AC.

It is about 800 m to Sigiriya Rock, so its location could not be better. Indeed it was the first guest house to be built in the area and has been in the Lonely Planet since 1982.
