Looking for a Residence Visa for Sri Lanka?

Then look no further, we can help. We have over 8 years experience in obtaining residence visas for foreigners.

There are many different types of residence visas, but the most popular ones are:

  • Working Visa
  • Board of Investment Visa
  • Dream Home Visa

Let’s briefly talk about the last two types of visas then we will explain about the most popular one, which is the Working Visa. A Board of Investment Visa, commonly known as BOI is for those indviduals that wish to invest in the country. The minimum investment is now $150,000 so it’s not for everyone. The next visa is the Dream Home visa, this is exclusively for those aged 55 or over who wish to make Sri Lanka their retirement home. The minimum investment is $15,000 and this will give you a 2 year residence visa.

Our most popular visa is the Working Visa.

Some may call this a Business Visa, but it is the same. This is available to any foreigner subject to approval.

The fee for the first year is $1,000 (USD) plus 10,000 Rupees (LKR) Handling Fee, and is even available to foreign visitors currently on a tourist visa. For each year after that, the fee reduces down to $500 (USD) per year. This maybe subject to change at any time, however in the past 6 years, it has only increased twice and this was due to government tax.

All Residence Visas issued are subject to the holder undergoing an annual health assessment. The fee for this is currently $75 (USD). Upon completion the Visa holder will then have access to all Sri Lankan NHS hospitals including accident and emergency, but obviously excluding any private facility.

The Health Protection Plan

All Residence Visa applicants are required to undergo a Health Assessment as part of the Health Protection Plan introduced by the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine (MoH) before submitting Residence Visa (new entry or renewal) application to the Department of Immigration & Emigration (DIE) of Sri Lanka, with effect from 03rd June 2019. Health Assessment for the Health Protection Plan for resident visa applicants is valid for One year.
